DNA, an abbreviation of deoxyribonucleic acid, is the molecule that is responsible for carrying genetic instructions in all living things. DNA is crucial in facilitating growth, development, and the continuation of lives, contributing to each species’ uniqueness and distinctiveness.
The Hex Pens DNA Evolved features a DNA-shaped inner reservoir with asymmetrical A-tracts and glycosidic bonds, which are represented by the double helix and horizontal rungs respectively. The sequence of the two strands goes in an opposite direction, therefore it marks the inherent asymmetry, also known as the spiral ladder-like appearance.
The Evolved series is built upon the findings of our previous products with improvements in the material and construction.
The barrel is 3D printed from a new special formulation of clear resin that has enhanced clarity and ink resistance. After the barrel is 3D printed, it is individually hand polished through a series of stages to reach its final crystal clear aesthetic.
The cap, section, and end cap are made from machined POM, which is a plastic that is extremely durable and has a low coefficient of friction. This protects the female threads of the 3D printed barrel.
The threads connected to the barrel as well as the nib unit threads all have two o-rings that provide a strong seal that prevents ink from leaking. Although silicone grease is not necessary, it can be used to provide extra leak protection.
